The Civil Police of Franca, SP, are investigating a series of thefts of scaffolding and metal platforms from construction sites, causing a total loss of R$ 16,000.

The Civil Police in Franca, São Paulo, are looking into a string of thefts targeting construction sites in the eastern neighborhoods of Jardim Belveder and Primo Meneghetti. These criminal activities, which occurred on February 22 and 24, have resulted in significant financial losses for the owners and builders, totaling around R$ 16,000. As of the latest report, the police have yet to identify any suspects, despite having security camera footage of the incidents.

In the most valuable incident reported in Jardim Belveder, thieves made off with 45 pieces of scaffolding and five metal platforms, valued at approximately R$ 10,000. This event has raised concerns among local builders regarding the security of construction sites in the area. Subsequently, another theft occurred just 400 meters away in the Primo Meneghetti neighborhood, leading to R$ 6,000 in losses due to additional scaffolding thefts. These overlapping thefts highlight a troubling trend in the region involving targeted attacks on construction materials.

The first theft took place on February 22, when a man was captured on surveillance footage jumping over the wall to enter the construction site. The police are keen to apprehend the individual responsible for these thefts, as the frequency of such incidents not only impacts local builders' finances but also raises broader questions about safety and crime prevention measures in Franca's construction industry. The ongoing investigation aims to deter future crimes and enhance security protocols to safeguard ongoing construction projects from thieves.
