On the morning of Saturday, October 7, a tragic drowning occurred at Sapê Beach in Ubatuba, São Paulo, where a 55-year-old woman lost her life. The incident was reported by the Maritime Fire Brigade (GBMar) which stated that the victim was pronounced dead after emergency responders attempted to revive her. Witnesses indicated that a surfer spotted her floating and called for help from lifeguards on duty at the beach.
The GBMar reported that the emergency call came around 9 a.m., and upon arrival, lifeguards assessed the woman at a severe level 6 of drowning, characterized by cardiac arrest and absence of pulse or breath. Rescuers managed to retrieve her from the water and initiated first aid measures on the beach. An ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) quickly arrived on the scene and transported her to the local emergency room.
Despite the urgent medical intervention, the woman did not survive. As of the reporting, her identity had not been disclosed. This incident highlights the potential dangers at popular beach locations and serves as a somber reminder of the importance of vigilance in water safety, especially in crowded areas like Ubatuba, which is known for its beautiful coastal attractions.
