Not a Union Territory, This Congress MP has Demanded a Separate Seemanchal State
Congress MP Dr. Javed Azad has expressed his opposition to making Seemanchal a Union Territory, instead advocating for it to be declared a separate state for better attention to its issues.
In the context of discussions on creating a Union Territory from districts in Bihar and West Bengal, Congress MP Dr. Javed Azad has made a significant statement. He firmly opposes the idea of making Seemanchal a Union Territory and instead supports its recognition as a separate state. Dr. Azad argues that the current administrative framework, centered in Patna, fails to adequately address the challenges and issues faced by the Seemanchal region, which he believes can be better managed if it were a separate state.
During a conversation with journalists in Kishanganj, Dr. Azad highlighted the disconnect between the government in Patna and the realities of Seemanchal’s needs, stating that the administration's focus does not even reach four and a half kilometers into the region. He believes that achieving statehood for Seemanchal would not only enhance governance but also stimulate development, ultimately improving living conditions for the residents.
Dr. Azad's call for a separate Seemanchal state is part of an ongoing discourse among local leaders and communities that feel marginalized by the existing political arrangements. His position reflects a growing sentiment in the region that self-governance may offer a more effective solution to the persistent socio-economic challenges faced by its inhabitants.
