Sdp leaders blast nuclear weapons – strong criticism of the government

The SDP's leading politicians in Finland are firmly opposing government plans to lift existing nuclear weapon restrictions in Finnish legislation.

In a strong stance against the Finnish government, leaders of the opposition party Social Democratic Party (SDP) have declared their firm opposition to any plans that would allow nuclear weapons in Finland. A press release by the party’s parliamentary group highlighted their clear message: they do not want nuclear weapons in the country and vehemently oppose the proposed changes to the nuclear energy law that would dismantle existing restrictions on nuclear weaponry. This statement was signed by prominent party figures including party chairman Antti Lindtman and foreign affairs committee chairman Johannes Koskinen, the latter being a significant player in Finland's foreign policy.
