Voborníková maintains excellent form; she excelled in the last round in Kontiolahti

Czech biathlete Tereza Voborníková finished fifth in the women's mass start event at the World Cup in Kontiolahti, demonstrating consistent performance despite two shooting errors.

Tereza Voborníková, a bronze medalist from the Olympics, competed in the women's mass start event at the Biathlon World Cup held in Kontiolahti, where she finished in fifth place. The 25-year-old athlete made two shooting mistakes during the race, which caused her to miss the podium by just under seven seconds. The event was won by French athlete Julia Simon, followed by Swedish competitors Elvira Öberg and Anna Magnusson.

Voborníková's performance in Kontiolahti marks her third consecutive top-five finish, continuing a streak of good results over the recent weeks. Prior to this event, she achieved third place in the mass start Olympic race in Antholz in February and secured a fourth place in the endurance race in Kontiolahti just days before. These consistent results indicate that Voborníková is in excellent form ahead of upcoming competitions, as she only missed out on a podium finish by a small margin this time.

The athlete from Vrchlabí began the race with a flawless shooting performance in the prone position, placing her in a competitive position early on. With only 15.2 seconds separating her from the winner, Simon, Voborníková was challenged in the final sprint, finishing just three-tenths of a second behind German athlete Marlene Fichtner, but she successfully held off Olympic champion Océane Michelon from France. Overall, her sixth-best running time during the race further highlights her strong performance this season.
