‘Bullets are flying’: Two more Toronto-area synagogues hit by gunfire

Two synagogues in the Toronto area were shot at on Saturday, following a previous incident at another synagogue earlier in the week, raising concerns about the safety of the Jewish community amid tensions related to international conflicts.

On Saturday, two synagogues located in the Toronto area were targeted by gunfire, exacerbating fears within the community amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran. The incidents occurred at the BAYT synagogue in Thornhill and the Shaarei Shomayim synagogue in North York, and fortunately, no one was present at the time of the shootings. Community alerts were previously issued, advising Jewish residents to remain vigilant due to increased risks at this time. This comes in the wake of a similar attack earlier in the week, when another synagogue, Temple Emanu-El, was shot at after a Purim celebration, which has heightened the sense of insecurity among local Jewish congregations.
