Maderova wins another silver. The final was decided by a mistake just before the end

Czech Olympic champion Zuzana Maderova finished second in the parallel slalom at the World Cup in Špindlerův Mlýn, following a mistake that cost her the win to Japan's Miki Cubaki.

Zuzana Maderova, the Czech Olympic champion, secured a second-place finish in the parallel slalom at the World Cup event held in Špindlerův Mlýn, Czechia. This marked her seventh podium finish in her career, but she continues to wait for her first victory. Just a week prior, Maderova also earned a silver medal in the parallel giant slalom in Krynica, showcasing her consistent performance on the World Cup circuit.

During the race in Špindlerův Mlýn, Maderova advanced to the elimination rounds after qualifying in second place behind Japan's Miki Cubaki. In the knockout stages, she eliminated Canadian skier Kaylie Buck in the round of 16, another Canadian Aurelie Moisan in the quarterfinals, and Italy's Elisa Caffont in the semifinals. However, in the finals, competing on the slower red course, Maderova maintained a close race with Cubaki until a mistake just before the finish line cost her the gold medal.

The men's race saw Maurizio Bormolini from Italy take the victory, while Czech competitor Kryštof Minárik could only manage 11th place after being eliminated in the round of 16. Other Czech skiers Ondřej Tulach and Filip Mareš did not advance past the qualification rounds. Maderova's performance continues to highlight her skill and potential in the sport, yet the pursuit of her first World Cup victory remains a critical milestone for her career.
