Swedish success in Lahti – doubles on the podium in the sprint

Sweden's Jonna Sundling and Linn Svahn secured a one-two victory in the women's sprint finals in Lahti.

At the Lahti sprint finals, five Swedish women advanced to the finals, although Maja Dahlqvist was frustrated by her quarterfinal exit, stating she felt stronger than her performance indicated. Jonna Sundling and Linn Svahn emerged victorious, clinching the gold and silver medals respectively, following the disqualification of Norwegian star Kristine Stavås Skistad which allowed Moa Ilar to take the last spot in the final. Sundling expressed her delight at achieving a strong performance on the day, while Johanna Hagström narrowly missed the podium, finishing just behind the top competitors.

The event highlighted the strength of the Swedish team, showcasing their competitiveness in cross-country skiing. The absence of the disqualified Norwegian athlete added an unexpected twist to the race dynamics, enabling Swedish athletes to dominate the final heats. The successful outcomes in Lahti not only underline Sweden's prowess in winter sports but also set a hopeful tone leading into future competitions.
