This development arises from allegations that her father orchestrated her kidnapping in a bid to settle a supposed debt of $100,000 held by Gabrielly's maternal grandfather. The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS) supports the claim that Palermo's motives were linked to extorting money for a debt left with Gabrielly's ex-sogro back in 2015.
In the criminal proceedings, Gabrielly's husband, Weslley Henrique Sorti de Almeida, has also requested to act as an assistant to the prosecution alongside her. The MPMS claims that Gerson Palermo, in a brazen act of familial betrayal, allegedly conspired with Reinaldo Silva de Farias, a supposed accomplice, to execute the kidnapping. It is reported that Silva held Gabrielly captive in his home, performing control and coercion measures to elicit the ransom from her family.
