Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner for Defence and Space, revealed that Ukraine has employed roughly 700 Patriot interceptors during the winter months. This statistic is particularly significant when compared to the surge of US-made interceptor missiles used in the Middle East, where approximately 800 were deployed in just three days. Such comparisons indicate the substantial military assets being utilized and the ongoing pressures on global weapon supply chains due to various conflicts.
Kubilius emphasized the urgent need for Europe to enhance its missile production, stating that Ukraine’s defense requirements far exceed the current output capabilities of Western manufacturers.
