Poll: Two out of three think the Crown Princess has handled the Epstein case poorly
A recent poll reveals that a significant majority of Norwegians believe Crown Princess Mette-Marit has not managed the Epstein case well, following revelations of her previous contacts with Jeffrey Epstein.
A recent poll conducted by Verian on behalf of TV 2 shows that a substantial 68% of Norwegians believe Crown Princess Mette-Marit has handled the Epstein case poorly, with 31.5% stating she did 'very poorly' and 36.5% 'somewhat poorly.' Only a small percentage, 18.9%, feel she managed the situation 'somewhat well', while just 1.3% believe she handled it 'very well.' Additionally, 11.9% of respondents were uncertain in their opinion. The poll comes in the wake of Epstein documents released on January 30, which reveal that the Crown Princess had closer ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein than previously disclosed. This revelation has sparked significant public scrutiny and debate, highlighting concerns over the monarchy's image in Norway. Crown Princess Mette-Marit has expressed remorse for her past associations but has yet to speak directly to the media regarding the issue. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Haakon supports his wife's need for time to prepare a proper response. The data from this poll indicates that a majority of participants, 63.3%, feel the monarchy's standing has weakened over the past years, although this sentiment reflects an improvement compared to a similar poll conducted in February. This decline in perceived prestige for the monarchy is part of a broader conversation about the royal family's role in Norwegian society, particularly in light of recent controversies.
