Pilot is honored for making last commercial flight after 50 years of career: 'Golden Key'
Pilot José Ribamar de Sá completed his final commercial flight after 50 years in aviation and was honored at Natal Airport, where he began his career.
José Ribamar de Sá, a 73-year-old pilot, was honored this week after landing at Natal Airport, marking the conclusion of his 50-year aviation career. Among the passengers on his final flight were his three children, two of whom are also pilots, and his wife, who offered support and celebrated this significant milestone in his life.
Choosing Natal for his farewell flight was symbolic for Ribamar as it is where he began his career in aviation, having conducted his first flight from this very city. "I asked the company to let me have my last flight here in Natal because it is where I started and where I wanted to finish," he explained. The location holds deep sentimental value for him, further highlighting the significance of this momentous occasion.
As he prepared for the final takeoff, Ribamar expressed his emotions even before boarding the aircraft. He recounted that during the pre-flight briefing with the crew, he began by sharing feelings that he typically conveyed before every flight, underscoring the personal and professional journey he has experienced over decades. This heartfelt farewell has brought attention to the deep commitment and emotional ties many pilots share with their profession and the places connected to their journey.
