At least seven dead in Russian attacks in Ukraine overnight Saturday
Russian forces carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine, resulting in at least seven deaths, including two children, in Kharkiv.
In the early hours leading up to Saturday, Russian forces executed a significant offensive against Ukraine, unleashing 29 missiles and 480 drones. Notably, a residential building in Kharkiv was struck directly by a ballistic missile. According to Kharkiv's mayor, Igor Terekhov, the attacks resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals, including two children, with ongoing search and rescue operations indicating that more victims may be trapped in the rubble.
The missile strike caused substantial destruction and fires within the apartment building, completely obliterating one section and damaging the upper floors of a neighboring structure. In addition to the fatalities, more than ten people sustained injuries, including several children. Rescue teams remain on the scene, diligently sifting through the debris in hopes of locating any survivors.
Kharkiv also endured attacks from Shahed drones, further complicating the already dire situation. One drone struck the Kyivskyi district, while another crashed in an industrial area of the Osnovjanskyj district. The regional military administration, led by Oleg Syniehubov, reported a total of eight deaths in the Kharkiv region over the last 24 hours, emphasizing the continuing peril faced by civilians amid this ongoing conflict.
