Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė of Lithuania will be meeting with Pope Leo XIV for an audience, along with discussions with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States, and Grand Chancellor Riccardo Paterno di Montecupo of the Knights of Malta. The meeting highlights the historically close ties between Lithuania and the Holy See, particularly given that the Holy See did not recognize the Soviet occupation of Lithuania and maintained diplomatic relations even during that period.

During the visit, topics such as bilateral relations, regional security, and assistance to Ukraine will be discussed, reflecting Lithuania's ongoing concerns in the geopolitical landscape. According to Ruginienė's advisor, Ignas Algirdas Dobrovolskas, the aim of the visit is to strengthen cooperation and maintain a consistent dialogue with the Holy See.

Additionally, Ruginienė will visit the Lithuanian embassy to the Holy See and attend the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, where she will meet with Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas and lay a floral tribute on the tomb of Pope Francis. This visit signifies Lithuania's commitment to solidifying its relationship with the Vatican while also addressing broader regional issues of security and support for Ukraine.
