Paraíba Justice points out legal error but archives case against judge reported for religious racism against Candomblé priestess
The Court of Justice of Paraíba has decided to archive a disciplinary case against a judge accused of religious racism towards a Candomblé priestess, finding a legal error in the proceedings.
The Court of Justice of Paraíba, under the leadership of Corregedor-Geral Leandro dos Santos, has decided to archive a disciplinary process against Judge Adhemar de Paula Leite. The judge had been accused of exhibiting religious racism in a ruling concerning Lúcia Oliveira, a Candomblé priestess. The case stemmed from an incident where a rideshare driver refused to pick her up from a Candomblé house, prompting her to file a complaint. In his ruling, the judge dismissed Oliveira's complaint and controversially attributed fault to her, framing her reaction as 'intolerance' instead of addressing the underlying issue of discrimination.
