In the Amazon region of Brazil, the Federal Police are conducting an investigation into Amazon prev, the state pension fund, to determine if its officials accepted bribes to invest funds in Banco Master. The investigation revealed that between June and September 2024, Amazonprev invested R$ 390 million in financial letters from four private banks without undergoing proper analysis or oversight. Of this total, R$ 50 million was directed to Banco Master, which was liquidated by the Central Bank in November 2025 due to financial irregularities.
