An 18-year-old man was arrested on May 5 in the Piracicamirim neighborhood of Piracicaba, São Paulo, for drug trafficking and is also suspected of participating in the murder of a teenager discovered in a creek in January 2024. The arrest was made by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) and highlights the ongoing issues surrounding youth and crime in the region. During the operation, police also apprehended a 16-year-old boy who displayed nervous behavior when law enforcement approached.

The police reported that both suspects attempted to flee upon noticing the patrol vehicle, indicating a possible awareness of their illegal activities. When detained, officers confiscated portions of crack and cocaine, in addition to cash and two mobile phones, further suggesting the involvement of the suspects in drug distribution.
