Co-payment on UD flight home from the Middle East: 12,500

Norwegian Foreign Ministry collaborates with Norwegian Air to offer a flight from Muscat, Oman, primarily for families with children and those with medical needs, with a co-payment of 12,500 kroner for most passengers.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry, in conjunction with Norwegian Air, is arranging a repatriation flight from Muscat, Oman, scheduled for March 8. The decision was announced by Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, who specified that the initial priority for this flight is for families with children and individuals with medical needs. This initiative reflects the ongoing challenges faced by many in returning home from conflict-affected areas.

The capacity for this flight is limited, focusing on families with children aged 0 to 12, pregnant women, and people with specific medical requirements who must be prioritized. For children under two years old, the flight will be free of charge; however, adults and children over two will face a copayment of 12,500 kroner, which has raised concerns among some families regarding the affordability of repatriation during such a serious crisis.

Foreign Minister Eide emphasized the urgency of the situation, indicating the seriousness of the challenges and the ongoing assessments by airlines regarding safety. He noted that changes to the schedule could occur at short notice due to the volatile context, underscoring the need for flexibility and awareness among potential passengers regarding the difficulties still inherent to international travel in these times.
