Establishing a Korean-style Integrated Cancer Treatment System Using Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Herbal Medicine

A Korean professor has developed an integrated cancer treatment approach that combines traditional medicine with modern medical practices.

Professor Yoo Hwa-seung from Daejeon University is a specialist in integrated cancer treatment, which utilizes scientifically supported methods alongside modern medicine for patient care. He has established a unique Korean integrated cancer treatment system that incorporates acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine as complementary therapies to standard treatments. As the third president of the Korean Integrated Cancer Society sanctioned by the Ministry of Health and Welfare since February, Yoo has been instrumental in advancing this form of cancer care.

Yoo's work has led to significant scientific validation of integrated cancer treatment, with over 125 publications in prestigious scientific journals and numerous contributions to the Korean medical literature. His efforts have not only promoted alternative cancer therapies but have also fostered the training of many cancer specialists who come from a traditional medicine background. The East-West Cancer Center, where he has worked for 28 years, serves as the first hospital of a Korean traditional medicine university dedicated to cancer treatment, achieving measurable results for patients.

The Korean-style integrated cancer treatment is based on the 'Wheel Cancer Treatment Method', conceived by Yoo's mentor, which focuses on enhancing patients' immunity through a diversified and holistic approach. This method includes four main components: traditional herbal treatments, metabolic activation therapy, breath meditation therapy, and anticancer dietary therapy. Success stories are emerging from the center as patients report significant improvements in their quality of life through a combination of treatments that include high-frequency thermal therapy, intravenous vitamin C infusions, and various holistic practices, demonstrating a promising direction in cancer care.
