On Friday afternoon, a man was detained after holding a doctor hostage at the Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA) in Várzea Paulista, São Paulo. Authorities reported that the man was in a psychotic state during the medical consultation, displaying aggressive behavior towards the healthcare professional. Witnesses stated that the suspect locked the doctor inside an office and threatened her with a pen, prompting the medical staff to call for assistance from the municipal guard and military police.

Once authorities arrived on the scene, they successfully subdued the man and transported him to the local police station. Fortunately, the doctor was unharmed, and she filed a police report regarding the incident.
