A man was arrested by the Civil Police of Maranhão on Friday for threatening and stalking women in the city of Codó, located 311 km from São Luís. He had allegedly been intimidating and pursuing his victims for about a year, with the most recent incident involving the invasion of the homes of three women where he made further threats. He returned to the scene the next day, continuing his harassment.

Following multiple reports made against him, the 4th Regional Delegacy of Codó, with assistance from the Ready Employment Group (GPE), conducted investigations that led to his identification and arrest in the São Francisco neighborhood, where he had been terrorizing his victims. His apprehension was part of a greater effort to address the rising issues of domestic violence and stalking in the region, which often goes unreported due to fear of retaliation from aggressors.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about violence against women in Brazil, particularly in smaller municipalities where resources and support systems may be less accessible.
