Toronto man charged in alleged multimillion-dollar investment fraud: York police

A 40-year-old man from Toronto has been charged with fraud related to an alleged multimillion-dollar investment scam.

Authorities have charged a 40-year-old man from Toronto with fraud following allegations of a multimillion-dollar investment scheme. The investigation by York regional police commenced in March 2025, after a complaint was lodged concerning the fraud. The accused is alleged to have promised significant investment returns to individuals through his company, Equity Line Service Corporation, leading to claims that he misappropriated over $2.5 million intended for legitimate investments.

The alleged fraudulent activities reportedly began in February 2024 when a victim was assured they would receive returns on the money they invested. Upon further investigation, police identified at least five additional victims who had also invested with the suspect. The police's growing concerns about possible additional victims prompted them to release the suspect's name and image to the public, aiming to increase awareness and encourage other potential victims to come forward.

In December of the previous year, the accused was officially charged with six counts of fraud over $5,000. The ongoing investigation indicates that law enforcement is treating this case with significant urgency given the substantial amount of money involved and the number of victims already identified. This case underscores the importance of vigilance in investment practices, especially as more individuals may be affected by similar scams in a financially challenging climate.
