The Governor Valadares municipal government is investigating two suspected cases of mpox, with patients currently in isolation at the municipal hospital.
The city of Governador Valadares, located in Eastern Minas Gerais, has reported two suspected cases of mpox and is currently conducting an investigation. The local Health Department revealed that both patients exhibited symptoms consistent with the disease upon their admission to the Municipal Hospital. As a precautionary measure, they are being kept in isolation to prevent any potential spread of the illness.
According to the city's health officials, the patients are reportedly stable, and necessary examinations have already been carried out to assess the possibility of an mpox infection. The samples collected from the patients have been sent to the Ezequiel Dias Foundation in Belo Horizonte for analysis. While awaiting the laboratory results, the patients are under continuous observation by the clinical team at the hospital, along with support from the Epidemiological Surveillance and the Hospital Infection Control Commission (CCIH).
In light of the situation, the municipal administration is advising residents to refer to official channels for information to combat the spread of misinformation regarding the cases under investigation. This response highlights the city's proactive approach to managing public health and its commitment to ensuring community awareness and health safety during this critical time.
