In São Paulo, the public prosecutor's office (MP-SP) has revealed that the recent changes to the city's zoning laws have led to the approval of high-rise buildings in areas previously designated as unsuitable for such constructions. The modified project for a mid-range high-rise building in the Jardins area saw its height and apartment count more than double, an embodiment of the city's push for vertical development. This development has come under scrutiny for not adhering to the established urban planning guidelines that are meant to regulate building heights and densities.
