On October 5th, a tragic incident occurred in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where a nursing home collapsed, claiming the lives of 12 individuals. Among the deceased were the caretaker, aged 31, and several elderly residents ranging from 69 to 99 years old. At the time of the collapse, 29 people were present in the facility, with 12 confirmed dead, 8 rescued alive, and 9 who managed to exit before the building fell.

The Brazilian Civil Defense conducted preventive inspections of seven surrounding properties to evaluate their structural conditions and potential risks in light of the tragedy. As a result, two buildings were completely closed off, four were partially restricted, and one was cleared for continued use. These evaluations are crucial to prevent further tragedies in the area, as the structural integrity of neighboring buildings could be compromised due to the collapse.

Meanwhile, the Civil Police have initiated an inquiry to investigate the causes and circumstances surrounding the nursing home's collapse.
