Iltalehti's hockey analyst, Pekka Virta, highlights that the team was anticipated to perform much better this year and that the challenges they are currently facing are unexpected given the resources available to them.

Despite their underwhelming performance, Virta points out that the season is not over yet. There is still an opportunity for Kärpät to make it to the playoffs, thanks to the league's structure that allows for such possibilities. With 15 wins out of 55 games played, there remains a theoretical chance for the team to compete for the Finnish championship, although this outcome would require significant improvement.

Furthermore, the team's goal-scoring statistics indicate some positives, as they rank among the top eight teams in terms of goals scored, suggesting that when it comes to offense, they are performing well. Nevertheless, the overall lack of wins reflects a need for critical adjustments to their strategies and team dynamics as the season progresses.
