Sahara dust from North Africa is making its way to Germany, leading to milky sunlight and hazy conditions that are expected to persist for several days. Meteorologist Christian Herold from the German Weather Service (DWD) stated that high concentrations of the dust will be carried along with warm air arriving over the weekend. As a result, notable haziness is particularly evident in western Germany, with the dust creating unusual white and yellowish sunrises and sunsets.

In addition to the visual effects, experts advise people, especially those with allergies and respiratory conditions, to take certain precautions. The dust can cause exacerbated symptoms for asthma sufferers and may trigger allergic reactions in some individuals. DWD meteorologist Andreas Walter confirmed that the dust has now traveled primarily to the southwest of the country, reaching heights of two to four kilometers, which increases the potential for widespread impacts across the region.

Residents are being cautioned to remain vigilant, and some meteorologists recommend postponing activities like car washing, as the dust is expected to settle over several days before conditions improve. This weather phenomenon illustrates the interconnected nature of climate patterns and emphasizes how natural events can affect daily life in areas far from their source, such as North Africa's Sahara desert affecting German cities.
