MAN hails Anambra’s shift from diesel to gas as industrial game-changer
The Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria praises Anambra's transition from diesel to gas energy at an energy forum as a crucial step for industrial growth.
Lady Adaora Chukwudozie, the Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria for the South-East Region, has hailed Anambra State's transition from diesel to gas energy as a pivotal change for the state's industrial landscape. Speaking at the Energy Stakeholder Forum in Awka, she emphasized that this shift is not merely technical but represents a strategic approach to fostering sustainable growth in manufacturing. The event, themed 'Bridging the energy gap for manufacturers,' underscored the importance of reliable and cost-effective energy in enhancing industrial competitiveness.
Chukwudozie expressed optimism about the benefits this transition will bring, given Anambra's strong industrial bases in regions like Nnewi, Onitsha, Awka, and Nkpor. She acknowledged the state's entrepreneurial spirit and resilience in the face of challenges, including the cost and reliability of energy sources, which she termed as critical factors for manufacturers seeking to remain competitive. The forum, in collaboration with Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, aimed to address these energy issues and support local manufacturers.
In her remarks, Chukwudozie focused on the need for ongoing support and infrastructure improvements to facilitate this energy transition. She believes that by embracing gas energy, Anambra could reduce operational costs and position itself as a leading industrial hub in Nigeria. This move towards a more sustainable energy source aligns with national objectives for energy diversification and economic growth, signaling a potential transformation in the east's manufacturing sector.
