The first winner of the 'Baiba Award' is named
Egija Martinsone, head of SIA 'Lat Eko Food', is the first recipient of the 'Baiba Award', awarded for her contributions to women's economic empowerment.
The inaugural 'Baiba Award' has been presented to Egija Martinsone, chairwoman and owner of SIA 'Lat Eko Food', best known for its brand 'Rūdolfs'. The award was conferred on March 5th during the 'Novatore Impact Summit' in Riga, an international conference dedicated to women's economic empowerment. As part of the recognition, Martinsone received a unique gold brooch crafted by 'Baltu rotas' and a monetary prize of €1,000. The brooch design features a bird symbolizing freedom and movement, holding a Baltic sea pebble, emphasizing the award's significance.
Martinsone shared her inspiration for creating organic food for children, which originated 17 years ago, shortly after her son Rudolf was born. She mentioned that what once seemed like a crazy idea is now a reality, as her products, made with love in Ādaži, are now distributed to families worldwide. It’s clear that the award not only recognizes her business achievements but also honors her courageous decisions in pursuing responsible entrepreneurship, particularly the balancing act of family and business that many women face.
This recognition is part of a broader movement to empower women in business and highlight their contributions to both local and international economies. The 'Baiba Award' serves as an important reminder of the challenges women overcome in the business sector, while also celebrating their successes and innovations in driving economic growth.
