Here is the killer of a 46-year-old family mother from Turku

A Finnish court has sentenced Emmi Eveliina Pietilä to 10 years in prison for the murder of Minna Suominen, a mother who went missing in 2012.

The Varsinais-Suomi District Court has sentenced Emmi Eveliina Pietilä to ten years in prison for the killing of Minna Suominen, a 46-year-old mother who disappeared without a trace in January 2012. Suominen's body has never been found, and the police quickly suspected foul play following her disappearance. Emmi Eveliina Pietilä, now 35, had been the main suspect since shortly after the incident, when she was only 21 years old at the time of the murder.

During the trial held in January, the prosecutor alleged that Pietilä stabbed Suominen to death in the home of Suominen's partner in Turku. According to the charges, after the murder, Pietilä and an accomplice dismembered the body and transported the remains in garbage bags to the balcony. A few days later, the pair disposed of the body in a waterway. The prosecutor also stated that Suominen's partner was present but in poor physical condition, needing assistance with mobility and carrying shopping bags, and ultimately died from natural causes in his home.

This case highlights the ongoing issues of violence against women in Finland and raises questions about how cold cases are handled in the judicial system. Although the victim's body has not been recovered, the court's decision represents a significant step towards justice for the victim's family and underlines the importance of thorough investigations in missing persons cases.
