A thirty-year-old school assistant is under investigation in Satakunta, Finland, for several sexual crimes against children, with the most serious being the alleged severe rape of a child. The investigation was initiated following suspicions of voyeurism related to the assistant's actions in local swimming pool facilities. Police spokesperson, Crime Commissioner Jutta Karrento, reported that the man is suspected of secretly filming young children, specifically preschool-aged boys and first and second graders, in changing and shower areas, with recording occurring between March and May 2024.

At the time of the alleged offenses, the 31-year-old was employed as a school assistant, but he is no longer working at the school following the allegations. Authorities have stated that the suspect has retained the materials he recorded, although at this stage of the investigation, there is no indication that he has shared any of the footage. Karrento emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, which include capturing images of minors in vulnerable states and having possession of the recorded content.

The incident highlights significant concerns relating to child safety in educational and recreational environments, prompting discussions about safeguarding measures for minors.
