Ledecká finished fourteenth, losing to the winner by just 81 hundredths

Ester Ledecká finished fourteenth in the World Cup downhill in Val di Fassa, narrowly missing a top ten finish despite a strong start.

Ester Ledecká finished in fourteenth place at the World Cup downhill race in Val di Fassa, where the winner was Italian skier Laura Pirovano, who edged out Germany's Emma Aicher by a hundredth of a second. This result marks a disappointing trend for Ledecká, as it is the fourth time this season she has failed to break into the top ten, following her tenth place finish in Soldeu just a week prior and a solid fifth during Thursday's training run.

During the race, Ledecká began with promise, clocking the second fastest time in the first sector. However, as the course progressed, she gradually lost speed, with her most significant time setbacks occurring in the third and fourth segments of the track. Ultimately, she crossed the finish line in a cumulative eleventh place before being surpassed by Swiss skier Corinne Suter and others, resulting in her finishing fourteenth overall.

Despite her struggles this season, Ledecká's performance has had its highlights, with her best result being a sixth-place finish in a December race in Val d'Isère. This current ranking marks her first exit from the top ten since mid-January, raising questions about her form and momentum as the season progresses and as she aims to find consistency in her performances.
