Body Found in Luxurious Rental Cottage - One Murder Conviction

A Polish man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Lithuanian man at a luxurious rental cottage in Raasepori, Finland.

The West Uusimaa District Court has sentenced 43-year-old Bartlomiej Balazyn to life imprisonment for the murder of a 50-year-old Lithuanian man at a lavish rental villa in Raasepori. The incident occurred in February last year and was marked by extreme brutality, with the victim reportedly being beaten, kicked, choked, and struck in the head with a sharp object before ultimately dying on the terrace of the cottage.

The court proceedings revealed that three other foreign men, including Balazyn, were initially charged with the murder, but the charges against two Ukrainian men, aged 47 and 45, were dismissed. The prosecution detailed that the violent act took place during the early hours of February 26, 2025, with highlights that the murder stemmed from a group assault that escalated into fatal violence. The victim was left dead on the terrace following a particularly savage act that included twisting his head and neck.

The court characterized the murder as especially heinous, emphasizing the extended nature of the attack and the suffering inflicted upon the victim. This case has significant implications for discussions around violent crime and the judicial response to such incidents in Finland, particularly in relation to foreign nationals involved in criminal activities.
