Operation arrests suspects of attempted feminicide, rape and other crimes against women in MA

The Maranhão Civil Police has executed 22 arrest warrants in connection with crimes of violence against women as part of the Tolerance Zero operation.

In a coordinated effort, the Maranhão Civil Police executed 22 arrest warrants on the morning of this Friday, targeting suspects involved in violent crimes against women across regions including Grande São Luís, Imperatriz, and Itapecuru-Mirim, as well as in other states. This is part of the broader 'Operation Tolerance Zero', which aims to combat these heinous acts through proactive law enforcement measures.

The operation involves a total of 46 targets in various municipalities within Maranhão, and extends to cities in other states such as Pará, Paraíba, and Santa Catarina. The warrants encompass different types of arrests, including temporary, preventive, and those resulting from prior convictions, highlighting the severity and urgency of the situation regarding violence against women in these areas.

The initiative originally commenced on February 19, focusing on expediting investigations and judicial processes against individuals accused of violence toward women. Following the initial mobilization, the police have been systematically executing arrest orders issued by the judiciary, emphasizing a commitment to addressing and reducing instances of violence against women in Brazil.
