'Action Will Be Taken Against Hoarding of Petrol-Diesel', Lakhimpur DM Warns

Local officials in Lakhimpur have assured residents that there is no shortage of petroleum products amidst rumors, while warning against hoarding.

In Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh, panic spread among local residents on Friday due to rumors about a shortage of petroleum products and LPG fuel, allegedly linked to ongoing conflicts in West Asia. This led to long queues at petrol pumps in the districts of Nihasan, Palia, and Behera, as people rushed to fill up their tanks amid fears of running out of fuel. Reportedly, these concerns prompted local authorities to take measures to address the situation and reassure the public.

District Supply Officer Anjani Kumar Singh confirmed that the rumors were unfounded and reassured the public that there is a sufficient stock of fuel in the district. District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal urged residents not to panic and to buy fuel only as needed. He emphasized the importance of not succumbing to unfounded fears and advised the public to approach the situation calmly.

In response to the hoarding concerns, local authorities issued warnings that any individuals found hoarding petroleum products would face strict legal action. They assured citizens that the supply chain is functioning normally, and there is no need for alarm. The local Dealers Association has also clarified the situation, indicating that fuel availability is stable and calling for rational buying among consumers to prevent unnecessary shortages, showcasing the administration's efforts to contain panic and ensure public confidence in fuel availability.
