Paralympics Milan Cortina 2026, the Azzurri in competition and hopes for medals

Italy is set to compete with 42 athletes at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, aiming to improve upon their previous medal count from Beijing 2022.

Italy will be represented by a total of 42 athletes, including 35 men and 7 women, along with 4 guides in alpine skiing for the upcoming 2026 Winter Paralympics in Milan Cortina. The Italian team is determined to surpass their performance from the 2022 Beijing Paralympics, where they secured 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes. A significant hope for medals lies with Giacomo Bertagnolli, a 27-year-old from Trentino, who previously won an impressive 4 medals in Beijing, including gold in slalom and super combined, as well as silver in superG and giant slalom. Bertagnolli comes into the event as the reigning world champion in both technical disciplines for visually impaired skiers.
