Rasheed Wasiu, a protester involved in the 2020 #EndSARS demonstrations against police brutality in Nigeria, has been released from custody after nearly six years of detention. The Take It Back Movement, an advocacy group based in Lagos, confirmed his release following a Lagos court's decision to strike out his case on March 4. The #EndSARS protests, which began in October 2020, were a significant youth-led movement demanding an end to police brutality, particularly the actions of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which had garnered nationwide attention and mobilized thousands of young Nigerians.
