Big Collision Nearby – Lewis Hamilton's Wild Maneuver
Lewis Hamilton narrowly avoided a major accident during practice, showcasing his quick reflexes to evade a struggling car on the track.
During the second practice session, Lewis Hamilton found himself on the brink of one of the most serious accidents of his career. Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto was struggling with his car and had come to a stop in the middle of the track. Hamilton, approaching at high speed, was only able to avoid a catastrophic collision at the last moment by swerving out of the way, potentially escaping a crash that could have occurred at nearly 300 kilometers per hour.
Prior to this incident, there had already been chaos on the track, including a situation where Arvid Lindblad ran over George Russell's front wing after Russell carelessly maneuvered into the pit lane. As the second practice session progressed, Max Verstappen also continued to push his car to the limits, even after parts began to break off from his vehicle as he sped through a gravel trap.
Despite the challenges and near misses on the track, Oscar Piastri finished the session fastest, much to the delight of the home crowd, while Valtteri Bottas lagged 3.9 seconds behind him, putting him behind the struggling Aston Martin team. The session highlighted both the intense competition in Formula 1 and the constant specter of danger that drivers face during high-speed racing.
