Simpar, Vamos, and Movida to Increase Capital with Investment from BNDESPar
Simpar, along with its subsidiaries Vamos and Movida, announced a billion-dollar capital increase with an investment of about R$ 1.5 billion from the BNDES.
On October 5th, Simpar revealed its plans for a significant capital increase totaling as much as R$ 3.1 billion, largely supported by the investment of R$ 1.5 billion from BNDESPar, the investment arm of Brazil's National Bank for Economic and Social Development. This move is seen as a strategic effort to bolster the financial stability and expansion capabilities of the holding company and its subsidiaries, Vamos and Movida.
The capital increase will allow BNDESPar to acquire up to 10% of the social capital in each of the three companies, by subscribing to a maximum of 50% of the newly issued shares. The pricing of shares has been pegged at R$ 11.24 for Simpar, R$ 11.72 for Movida, and R$ 3.85 for Vamos, aligning with market trends although Simpar's share price has seen a decline recently, closing at R$ 11.83.
This investment highlights the crucial role of state development banks in supporting key sectors of the economy, especially in challenging market conditions. The injected capital is expected to strengthen the companies' market positions and facilitate growth, particularly in a highly competitive automobile rental sector where the two subsidiaries operate.
