Former sergeant of trisal is acquitted again for the death of a teenager in Acre
Former Military Police sergeant Erisson de Melo Nery has been acquitted again for the 2017 shooting of 13-year-old Fernando de Jesus during a burglary attempt.
Erisson de Melo Nery, a former sergeant of the Military Police in Acre, Brazil, has been acquitted for the second time regarding the case of Fernando de Jesus, a 13-year-old boy who was shot and killed in 2017 while attempting to burglarize Nery's home. The recent trial took place in the First Jury Court where Nery faced a jury along with five witnesses from the Public Ministry and ten witnesses from his defense, ultimately leading to the same outcome as a previous conviction. Although in November of last year, Nery was sentenced to eight years in a semi-open regime, this latest jury found him not guilty, reinforcing the ongoing controversy surrounding the case.
