Teenager killed parents to finance Trump assassination
An 18-year-old from Wisconsin was sentenced to life in prison for killing his parents to fund a planned assassination of President Donald Trump.
Nikita Casap, an 18-year-old resident of Wisconsin, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murder of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer. The heinous crime occurred in February 2025, when Casap shot his parents and lived with their bodies for two weeks before fleeing with approximately $14,000 in cash, jewelry, and his stepfather's car. This shocking act was motivated by Casap's intention to use the stolen money to fund an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, which he planned to execute using explosives dropped from a drone.
In court, Casap expressed his delusions of being part of a revolution or a war, explaining his actions as a misguided sense of purpose. The prosecution revealed that the teenager had become entrenched in 'disturbing websites' and fixated on content relating to serial killers and school shootings. Before carrying out the murders, he attempted to acquire weapons for the assassination and sent $8,700 in Bitcoin to an individual who promised to sell him a drone and explosives, only to be scammed. His legal team indicated that he intended to flee to Ukraine after the assassination to evade capture, demonstrating the serious premeditation involved in his plans.
The judge characterized the crimes as 'horrific', emphasizing the tragic and chilling nature of Casap's rationale for the murders. This case raises critical concerns about mental health, the impact of violent media and online influences on youth, and the broader implications of radicalization that can lead to such extreme acts of violence. The story underscores the need for heightened awareness and intervention strategies to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
