Brazil imports fewer fertilizers from the Middle East
Brazil's fertilizer imports from the Middle East have significantly decreased in the first two months of this year due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has adversely affected Brazil's fertilizer imports from the region, which are crucial for its agriculture. In the first two months of last year, Brazil imported 624,000 tons of fertilizers from this region, accounting for 12% of its total imports. However, in January and February of this year, Brazilian imports from the Middle East plummeted to just 462,000 tons, representing only 8.8% of total fertilizer imports, and marking the lowest import volume for this period in 11 years. This 34% decline compared to the average of the last five years raises concerns about the potential impact on Brazil's agricultural productivity if the conflict continues.
