A businessman from São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, lost approximately R$ 21,000 due to a scam involving unauthorized shipping deliveries.

A 46-year-old businessman from São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, discovered he had been defrauded out of around R$ 21,000 after numerous unauthorized shipments appeared on his billing statement. These unauthorized parcels totaled 67 and were sent throughout February using a postage card issued in his company's name without his consent.

The businessman, who operates an e-commerce business selling equipment and accessories and frequently utilizes postal services, became aware of the scam on March 3 when he reviewed his monthly invoice and noticed several unfamiliar transactions linked to an unknown person. The incident raises concerns about security within postal services and the potential vulnerabilities businesses face in online transactions.

As authorities investigate the case, the businessman has filed a police report as a precautionary measure. G1 contacted the postal services for comments on the matter, but as of the last update, there has been no response. This incident highlights the importance of safeguarding personal and business information to prevent similar scams that can result in significant financial losses.
