Transformer of over 800 tons will pass this Sunday (8) through the Serra das Araras
A transformer weighing over 800 tons is scheduled to pass through Serra das Araras on Sunday night, causing road closures.
A significant transport operation is set to take place this Sunday night (8) as a transformer with a weight of approximately 838 tons will pass through the Serra das Araras along the Via Dutra highway. The transformer measures about 106 meters in length and over six meters in width, making it a substantial load for the highway. The operation is coordinated by the concessionaire responsible for the highway, which has warned of disruptions due to the sheer size of the load.
To facilitate the safe passage of the transformer, a crucial road section will be completely closed from 10 PM on Sunday until 5 AM on Monday. The specific area affected is the uphill lane at kilometer 223 towards SΓ£o Paulo. During the transport, the load will temporarily utilize the uphill lane before returning to the downhill lane at kilometer 221 towards Rio de Janeiro, on its way to the Port of ItaguaΓ.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and pay close attention to the road signage to avoid delays. This event not only highlights the logistical challenges of transporting oversized cargo but also serves as a reminder of the potential impacts on local traffic patterns in the region, emphasizing the need for public awareness during such operations.
