A tragic incident occurred in Ponta Porã, Mato Grosso do Sul, where a 51-year-old nurse was severely injured in a domestic attack by her husband, a sub-lieutenant in the Fire Department. The attack happened on Tuesday, September 3, and the wife was attacked with a hammer while she desperately tried to protect her children, who are all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The two older children, aged 17 and 15, were also harmed during the incident, while their youngest son, aged 11, thankfully escaped physical injury but witnessed the traumatic event.
Before the assault, the mother urged her children to flee for their safety, which they did, seeking help from neighbors. As the chaos unfolded, witnesses reported witnessing the attacker in action, leading to immediate police involvement. The husband attempted to escape the scene but was detained shortly after. Currently, the injured nurse is receiving medical care at the Hospital da Vida in Dourados, where she remains in serious condition.
