One dead and one woman injured in armed attack in Tonsupa neighborhood
A violent incident left one man dead and a woman severely injured following a shooting in the Tonsupa neighborhood of Atacames, Ecuador.
On the evening of March 4, a shooting incident occurred in the Los Albergues neighborhood of Tonsupa, Atacames canton in Esmeraldas province, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury. Preliminary reports from the National Police indicated that at around 20:59, ECU911 received alerts regarding individuals injured by gunfire in the area. Police patrolling the district rushed to the scene to investigate the situation.
Upon arriving, police officers found a group of bystanders surrounding a victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was deceased. The victim was later identified as Erick Ronal Mojarrango Bustos. In addition to the deceased, it was reported that his wife was also injured during the attack; she was subsequently transported to the Juan Carlos Guasti Basic Hospital in Atacames for treatment.
This incident highlights the ongoing issues of violence and crime in certain areas of Ecuador, particularly in Esmeraldas province, known for its socio-economic challenges.
