A man died after being struck by a train in São Carlos, Brazil, and the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
A tragic incident occurred in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil, where a man was killed after being struck by a train on the morning of Thursday, March 5. The accident took place near the old railway station, close to the Poupatempo area in the city center. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim, and investigations are currently ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident, which happened around 10:30 AM.
The train operator, Rumo, expressed its condolences regarding the incident, stating that the train driver activated the horn and applied the emergency brakes, but was unable to stop in time to prevent the collision. Following the accident, the Military Police were called to address the situation and cordoned off the area to allow for a thorough investigation. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Instituto Médico Legal (IML) for further examination and identification.
In their official statement, Rumo indicated that the man had entered the operational area of the railway just as the train was approaching, suggesting potential negligence on the part of the victim.
