Small plane crashes into Phoenix home minutes after takeoff, injuring 3
A small plane crashed into a Phoenix home shortly after takeoff, injuring three people and causing significant damage to the house.
A small plane experienced difficulties shortly after departing from Deer Valley Airport around 7:20 a.m. and crashed into a residential home in Phoenix. The incident occurred near Cave Creek Road and Deer Valley Drive, where the aircraft collided with the house, tearing through a baby's bedroom. Fortunately, the homeowner and the baby were not injured, but three individuals were sent to the hospital due to injuries sustained during the crash.
Witnesses described the crash as sounding like a bomb going off or a loud bang, indicating the force of the impact on the home. Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller reported that the pilot attempted to turn back towards the airport due to unknown issues before the crash occurred. The plane sheared off part of the roof before coming to a halt in a neighboring yard, near a swimming pool, leaving wreckage scattered throughout the area.
Home surveillance footage captured the dramatic moment of the crash, highlighting the severity of the situation. The aftermath shows significant debris on the roof of the house, including a wing of the aircraft. This incident raises concerns about aviation safety and the proximity of small airports to residential areas, prompting discussions on the regulations governing flight paths and emergency landings to prevent similar accidents in the future.
