Volodymyr Zelensky: The USA asked Ukraine for help with drone protection in the Middle East

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United States requested Ukraine's assistance in protecting against Iranian drones in the Middle East by proposing a trade-off of defense systems.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that during the ongoing large-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has developed effective and low-cost drone interception systems. These systems, designed to target attacking drones in the air, are now claimed to be leading in the world for their effectiveness. In a recent discussion, Zelensky suggested a proposal to U.S. allies in the Middle East, offering to exchange some of their existing air defense missiles for these interceptors that he asserts would provide improved protection against drone attacks originating from Iran.

On the same platform, Zelensky stated that the United States had specifically requested assistance concerning protection against the Iranian-made 'Shahed' drones, which are also being utilized by Russia in its ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine faces daily threats from such drones that are launched from Russia, targeting civilian areas and critical infrastructure, including energy facilities. The urgent request from the U.S. underscores the increasing collaboration between Ukraine and its allies as the threat of drone warfare continues to pose a significant danger in various regions.

Zelensky concluded by emphasizing the necessity of providing the right measures and ensuring the presence of Ukrainian specialists capable of guaranteeing the required security. This call for cooperation not only reflects Ukraine's advanced capabilities in drone defense but also highlights the interconnected nature of global security concerns as countries seek to bolster their defenses against shared threats.
