Concern Spread in Formula Ones – “There Is No Other Positivity”
The new Formula 1 season is about to commence in Australia, ushering in a completely new era for the sport with substantial changes to car designs and engine regulations.
The new Formula 1 season will kick off this weekend in Australia, heralding major changes in the sport. This season sees a complete overhaul of car designs, with new regulations governing both the power units and aerodynamics. The cars will be smaller and lighter than the previous models, and a ban on ground effect tunnels in the car's underbody has been implemented. Additionally, the hybrid engines will now have a nearly equal power distribution of 50/50 between the combustion engine and the electric motor, a significant shift from the previous 90/10 ratio.
The extensive changes have generated excitement about possibly improved racing dynamics; however, early winter tests conducted in Bahrain have raised concerns among experts and drivers alike. Notable champions such as Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso criticized the drivability of the new cars. Verstappen likened the new designs to that of Formula E, branding the driving experience as "anti-racing." He expressed dissatisfaction with the handling and performance of the new cars. Meanwhile, Alonso pointed out that cornering speeds have decreased significantly, impacting the competitive edge of driving.
